Search "wealth direction feng shui" and most results point to the same fixed answer: place a money plant or a wealth symbol in the southeast corner of your home, and leave it there indefinitely. It is one of the most repeated pieces of feng shui advice in circulation — and it is incomplete in a way that can actively work against you.
The wealth sector of a property is not a fixed point on a compass. It is the product of two overlapping charts — an annual chart that changes every year, and a natal chart that is fixed to your specific building's construction period and facing direction — read together against the occupant's own BaZi chart. Treating the southeast corner as a permanent wealth corner skips two of those three layers.
Is the wealth corner the same for every house?
No. A generic "wealth corner" tip assumes every building shares an identical energy map, which is not how Flying Star (Xuan Kong Fei Xing) works. Each property has a natal chart determined by its construction period and the exact direction it faces — two buildings on the same street, facing slightly different directions, can carry different natal charts and therefore different wealth sectors.

For 2026, the #9 star — the primary current-wealth star of Period 9 — flies into the Southeast sector. The #8 star, the secondary wealth-related star carried over from Period 8, sits in the East. This is the annual overlay: it applies broadly across the year regardless of building, and it is the layer most generic wealth-corner content is actually describing when it recommends the southeast corner.
What that content leaves out is that this annual position only tells you where the year's wealth energy is moving through the wider Flying Star map — not where it lands inside your specific home. The annual chart has to be layered onto your property's own natal chart before you know which physical room or corner in your unit corresponds to that Southeast or East sector, and whether your natal chart supports or conflicts with what the annual chart is bringing in.
What's the difference between wealth luck and wealth direction?

Wealth luck refers to the broader condition set by your BaZi chart's current luck cycle — whether the years you are moving through are generally favourable for wealth accumulation, career gains, or financial risk-taking, independent of any specific property.
Wealth direction is narrower: it is the specific sector, inside a specific building, where Flying Star indicates wealth-related energy is currently concentrated. A person can be in a strong wealth luck cycle personally and still be living in a unit where the natal chart's wealth sector is compromised by what sits outside that direction — a poison arrow, a missing corner, or an unfavourable combination with the current annual star. Conversely, a well-configured wealth sector inside a weak luck cycle will not substitute for the underlying cycle. The two need to be read together, not treated as the same thing.
How do I find my property's wealth sector?
Finding your property's actual wealth sector requires three inputs, not one. First, the building's natal chart, which depends on its construction period and exact facing direction — this fixes which sectors are structurally favourable for wealth in that specific unit, independent of the calendar year. Second, the current annual chart, which shows where this year's moving wealth stars — the #9 and #8 for 2026 — are landing, and whether that reinforces or conflicts with the natal chart's own wealth sector. Third, your personal BaZi chart, which determines whether the timing is right for you individually to act on what the property chart shows.
None of these three can be substituted with a generic rule. A southeast-corner tip applied to a Period 8 building facing a different orientation than the one it was calculated for will, at best, do nothing — and at worst, direct attention and activation toward a sector the natal chart does not actually support.
